60 km highway fair area declared from Roorkee to Neelkanth, appeal to common people not to go

The formal beginning of the Kanwar fair is starting from Thursday. However, the fair will start from Purnima on July 13.

In view of the Kanwar fair, the police has completed its preparations. For this, about 60 km highway from Roorkee to Neelkanth has been declared as a fair area. 38 police circles have been formed in this area. The police have appealed to the common man not to come to this area. Apart from this, Meerut-Bijnor-Kotdwar and other routes can be used to reach the hill districts.

On Tuesday, DGP Ashok Kumar informed about the security arrangements of Kanwar Mela. He informed that the formal beginning of the Kanwar Mela is starting from Thursday. However, the fair will start from Purnima on July 13. Kanwariyas from far away places will start coming. For this, arrangements have been made for security arrangements in all the areas. Bomb disposal squad, anti-terrorist squad, police force, cavalry force etc. have been deployed.

He told that 60 km highway from Roorkee to Neelkanth will be there for the movement of Kanwariyas. From July 13 to 27, there will be a huge crowd here. Therefore, separate routes have been prescribed for the common man and for those going to the hilly districts. For this, information about the arrangement has already been issued. There is an appeal to the general public to use the Meerut-Bijnor-Kotdwar and Muzaffarnagar-Dehradun routes to reach the hills.

The police is fully prepared to give a befitting reply to any kind of chaos in the Kanwar Mela. Various arrangements have been made at different places throughout the region. It will be continuously monitored from the Police Headquarters. Headquarters will take daily updates. There is an appeal to the Kanwariyas to reach Haridwar only after registering.

This will be the management
-10 thousand policemen will be deployed
11 SP-ASP will handle the responsibility
– Deployment of 38 Police Officers (CO)
– 05 Anti-Terrorist Squad Teams
– 400 CCTV cameras (300 Haridwar and 100 Neelkanth area)
– One drone camera each will be monitored in 38 circles.

Neelkanth may face difficulties
The DGP said that there is a proper arrangement of parking in Haridwar. The parking earmarked for Chardham Yatris will also be opened for Kanwar Yatris. So that, water etc. can be taken by parking the vehicle here. However, he admitted that most of the troubles can be faced in the Neelkanth region. Parking is very less here. The Lakshman Jhula area is also similar.

Talks done with other departments
The police is constantly talking to other departments for other facilities on the Kanwar Yatra route. The departments have also made arrangements for toilets, parking, cleanliness etc. Apart from this, places have already been earmarked for Bhandara etc. for Kanwariyas. These will be installed off the road.
